The Tamar Valley's picking farms sit within about half an hour of Launceston, following the river north through Hillwood, Bridgenorth, Dilston and Lebrina. Hillwood Berries, on the eastern side of the Tamar, is the standout for pick-your-own strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries across a long spring-to-autumn season. Lees Orchard at Dilston follows with cherries in early summer, then apples and pears as autumn sets in. Cherry orchards at Mount Direction and Bridgenorth run a similarly short December-to-January window, while Crestview Blueberries at Lebrina picks over summer and the Tamar Valley Flower Patch at Bridgenorth opens for flowers from late spring into autumn. Because the Tamar Valley sits in a cooler pocket of the state, some crops start a little later here than further north in Tasmania, so it's worth calling ahead before you set out.

Pricing is generally pay-for-what-you-pick. Hillwood Berries has historically charged around $5 per punnet, Longford Berries around $10/kg for strawberries with no entry fee, and Crestview Blueberries around $7/kg. Several cherry and apple orchards don't publish prices online, so it's best to confirm on the day.
Crestview Blueberries recommends booking, and the Tamar Valley Flower Patch charges a booking fee per visitor for its flower picking. Hillwood Berries, Longford Berries and the local cherry orchards generally don't require a booking, though calling ahead is sensible during a short cherry season.
