Nearly everything here sits within about 20 minutes of central Canberra, clustered around the Pialligo orchard strip near the airport. Tanbella Orchard is the region's long-running favourite, with pick-your-own apples, pears, nashi, peaches and quinces from late January through to May. Just up the road, Majura Valley Farm opens its sunflower fields for a few weeks each February and March, a popular short-season outing for families. Cherries are the other big drawer, with Wallaroo Cherry Farm and Kembla Cherry Orchard picking through December and January a little further out of town. Vegetables and chillies also feature at Pialligo Harvest across the warmer months. Because orchard and cherry seasons can shift with the weather and some crops are event-based, it's worth calling ahead before you drive out.

Tanbella Orchard at Pialligo, about ten minutes from central Canberra, is the region's main pick-your-own apple orchard, open from late January through to May with a March-April peak. Bucket rental is around $7 and fruit is roughly $7 a kilogram, though prices can vary through the season.
Wallaroo Cherry Farm and Kembla Cherry Orchard both offer pick-your-own cherries in the classic November-to-January window, roughly 20-30 minutes from central Canberra. Wallaroo charges $5 entry per adult with children under 8 free, while Kembla recommends booking ahead given how quickly a good cherry season can sell out.
Majura Valley Farm, about 15 minutes from central Canberra, opens its sunflower fields for a short window in February and March, with exact dates shifting each year depending on the season. Entry is free and stems cost $3 each, with a limit of five stems per adult.
Pricing varies by farm and crop: Tanbella Orchard charges around $7 for bucket rental plus roughly $7/kg for apples, Wallaroo Cherry Farm charges $5 adult entry (children under 8 free) plus per-kilo cherries, and Majura Valley Farm's sunflowers are $3 a stem. Several smaller orchards don't publish pricing, so confirm on the day.
Majura Valley Farm's sunflower season requires booking given its short, weather-dependent window, and Kembla Cherry Orchard recommends it too. Tanbella Orchard, Pialligo Apples and Wallaroo Cherry Farm don't require bookings, but it's still worth calling ahead to check a crop is on before making the trip.
